SERVICES

What services do you provide?

Victoria's Quit Smoking Clinic offers a variety of hypnotherapy and hypnotherapeutic counseling practices in order to affect individual change. Each session includes ongoing assessments which help inform the therapist of the best method, or methods, needed for each client.

Some of these methods may include Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Regressions, or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Whichever method is implemented the client will be informed of the technique as it is integrated into each hypnosis session. It is important to remember that any treatment choice remains dependent on the client, their desired outcome, and their individual circumstances.

What exactly is hypnotherapy?

Have you ever caught yourself day dreaming or being so totally absorbed in a book, that you do not hear someone trying to get your attention. Have you ever been so consumed in thought that you have driven past your destination or ever so focused on what you are doing that everything else is excluded? These are all natural states of everyday trance. We slip in and out of trance many times each and every day. Hypnosis is merely an expansion/extension of this very natural state of relaxation. In a session you, the client, become the observer as the hypnotherapist gives suggestions that ease you effortlessly into a state of intense relaxation.

How effective is hypnosis?

Very effective! In a study conducted by clinical psychologist Dr. Alfred Barrios (B.S. Caltech, Ph.D. UCLA), he notes that, “... for psychoanalysis we can expect a recovery rate of 38% after approximately 600 sessions. For [Behaviour] therapy, we can expect a recovery rate of 72% after an average of 22 sessions, and for hypnotherapy we can expect a recovery rate of 93% after an average of 6 sessions.” Victoria's Quit Smoking Clinic and Victoria’s Quit Smoking Clinic.com mirrors this average and is proud to offer a two year guarantee to back up our work.

Can I be hypnotized?

States of trance are normal for all of us. These natural cycles allow the mind to “cleanse” itself of daily stresses, concerns and burdens. Other familiar terms for trance are ‘daydreaming’, ‘wandering mind’, or ‘driver’s trance’.

It is essential to know that in and out of trance you are always in full and complete control. We cannot make you go into trance, nor can we make you a non-smoker, however we can facilitate it for you. We are very good at what we do and have a very high success rate to back us up but what we do need is your full cooperation and acceptance. Without it you can prevent yourself from entering trance and therefore not receiving all that our session potentially holds for you. While in a trance state if ever anyone said something that did not resonate with you, even if you are in a very deep trance, you will come out of trance immediately, simply dismiss the suggestion, or possibly both.

How long does a session last?

The non-smoking session is a two hour session…all other programs are one and a half hours for the first session and one hour for each following session.

Will I hear everything that is said?

Someone undergoing hypnosis may hear everything the hypnotherapist says within a session or nothing that was said. You may find that your mind wanders and you hear bits and pieces of the session. Part of the reason for these differences in recall is the reality that there are many levels of trance (or hypnosis), all of which can be equally as effective.

How will I know that I am under hypnosis?

There are many different ways in which you may know that you are in trance. Some of these experiences could include:

  • certain parts of your body may go numb temporarily
  • your body may begin to feel very heavy
  • you may experience a sensation of floating
  • you may even experience time distortion and feel as though you have been under hypnosis for minutes, when in fact it has been one or more hours
  • while no two trances are ever alike, the state of trance is different for everyone, there is generally a pleasant feeling of intense, deep relaxation

Is there a difference between hypnosis and meditation?

Meditation is generally a self imposed trance where one is typically taught to “empty” their mind of all thoughts. The attainment of this state can sometimes take years of practice to achieve. In hypnosis the impetus comes from the outside, specific suggestions are made which allow the body and mind to enter into trance, a place where the mind and body feels extremely relaxed. What helps you to achieve your goals quickly and permanently is having the conscious mind give permission for the suggestions to be accepted and then stepping out of the way to let the therapist facilitate change for you.

Do you teach hypnosis or hypnotherapy?

As a career for others to practice, no we do not. Saying that, we at Victoria's Quit Smoking Clinic and Victoria’s Quit Smoking Clinic.com are 100% dedicated to a clinical, hypnotherapeutic practice. We often teach individual clients how to recognize and induce their own trance-states and how to use guided imagery in support of their regular sessions with us.

Do you offer CD's for sale?

Every client is given one or more complimentary, professionally recorded CD’s as part of their post-program support. There is no additional charge for these CD's. Although we do not offer general CD’s for sale at this time, we may be able to make a custom, hypnotherapeutic CD for you. Contact us so that we may discuss your needs.
